Brandon Simmons, a former Stanford athlete, first volunteered for TeachAids’ CrashCourse with a simple goal: to help protect and educate young athletes about the importance of head safety. CrashCourse, a concussion education program designed for the next generation of athletes, has reached countless players since its inception. But when Brandon signed up, he had no idea just how personal this work would become.

After graduating from Stanford, Brandon stepped into a new chapter—as a father. This year, as his son prepared for his first season of flag football, Brandon took on the role of coach. Part of his certification involved completing mandatory concussion training, where he was in for a surprise.

“I was taking the concussion training last night, and to my surprise, I was in the training!” Brandon shared. “I wasn’t expecting it, but it was so cool! It’s truly come full circle, seeing how CrashCourse is helping improve the game.”

Moments like these are especially powerful—when the work we pour our hearts into not only benefits others, but comes back to impact our own lives in ways we never anticipated. Brandon’s story is a reminder that even the smallest contributions can ripple outward, creating lasting positive change for our children and future generations.
