David Shaw is the most victorious football coach in Stanford history. With 73 wins under his belt — more than those of iconic Coach Glenn “Pop” Warner — Shaw enters the start of the 2018 season in his eigth year as the Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football.
In 2017, Coach Shaw received The Dodd Trophy, college football’s most coveted coaching award, for managing a successful program that excels in fostering scholarship, leadership and integrity. Coach Shaw was also named Pac-12 Conference coach of the year three times and 2015 AFCA Regional Coach of the Year. A Stanford graduate himself, Coach Shaw has led the Cardinal to three Pac-12 titles in the past six seasons and Rose Bowl wins in 2013 and 2016.
Above all, Coach Shaw prioritizes the health and wellbeing of all athletes, especially those in an age group vulnerable to lasting consequences of brain injuries.
“Education is the key,” Coach Shaw said. “We must make this game as safe as possible for the young people that play it, so that these young people can play and enjoy this game for as long as they can, and so that they can continue to live healthy, safe lives afterwards.”
With the shared goal of elevating the sport and promoting safety for youth athletes, we at TeachAids feel immense gratitude to collaborate with Coach Shaw on the production of CrashCourse, an innovative education curriculum that leverages the latest research and technology to educate the world about brain injuries in sports.
