Three-Time NCAA Championship Men’s Soccer Coach Joins the CrashCourse Advisory Team
With three consecutive NCAA championships under his belt in the past three years, coach Jeremy Gunn has achieved unparalleled success.
The Knowles Family Director of Men’s Soccer, Gunn has led his team to incredible winning streaks. In the 2017 NCAA tournament, the team did not allow a single goal throughout the entire tournament for the second straight year, clinching the championship title to become the second school to have won three consecutive championships. In his seven seasons of coaching the Cardinal, Gunn carries an impressive record of 95-27-22.
As just one of four coaches with NCAA titles at both the Division I and Division II levels, Gunn has established a precedent of winning. He has led a team to the College Cup final four times in the past seven seasons. Stanford has won an exceptional five consecutive Pac-12 titles in the past five years. And he displays extraordinary excellence in coaching as well; Gunn has been awarded the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in the past four years, making him the only coach in Pac-12 history to win more than two titles. And in 2017, Gunn and his assistants were collectively named the 2017 National Staff of the Year by United Soccer Coaches.
His awards are well deserved; known for fostering a team environment that emphasizes player development, Gunn’s players have also gone on to achieve stellar acclaim. After the 2015 NCAA championship, Jordan Morris became the first MAC Hermann Trophy winner in program history, and he ended up signing the most anticipated Homegrown Player Contract with the Seattle Sounders. Seven other players have also been selected in the Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft, many of whom were top picks. Under Gunn’s coaching there have been four United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Americans in Jordan Morris, Brandon Vincent, Tomas Hilliard-Arce, and Foster Langsdorf. Players have also won Pac-12 Player of the Year, Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, and Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.
TeachAids is pleased to welcome Coach Jeremy Gunn to the CrashCourse team. With his stellar record and passion for the sport, and with soccer being one of the leading causes of sports-related concussions, Coach Gunn’s role will be crucial in educating young people on ways to protect themselves while enhancing their performance.
