USA Water Polo Hall of Fame Inductee joins CrashCourse Advisory Committee
John Tanner, the Dunlevie Family Director of Women’s Water Polo, has led the Cardinal to incredible success during his 22 seasons at the helm of the program. Stanford women’s water polo is a nationally-ranked powerhouse that has produced six NCAA Championships, five MPSF Championships, 12 Olympians and dozens of Senior National Team members. With a focus on keeping players safe and optimizing their performance, Head Coach John Tanner has joined TeachAids on its latest initiative, CrashCourse, as an advisor.
Under Coach Tanner’s leadership, Stanford is the only women’s water polo program in the nation to have competed in all 18 NCAA Championships since they were initiated in 2001. In addition, Stanford has finished top three in the nation every season since Tanner took the reigns.
Coach Tanner, a former Stanford water polo All-American, returned to The Farm with a wealth of knowledge gained from years of playing and coaching at the collegiate and international levels. In his time at Stanford, he was named ACWPC Coach of the Year fives and his players have won five of the past eight Peter J. Cutino Awards. On Friday, June 7th of 2019, Coach Tanner will be one of seven members inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame as part of its 35th induction class.
We are pleased to welcome Coach John Tanner to the CrashCourse team of Athletic Advisors. Tanner’s experienced coaching skills, coupled with his passion for leadership and athlete safety, will serve as great support for our collection of concussion education tools for youth across the nation.
