Stanford student receives prestigious fellowship to expand TeachAids efforts in Rwanda
Ingrid Inema was a recipient of the highly competitive African Service Fellowship given by Stanford University. Awarded to only a handful of students every year, Inema used these funds to travel to Rwanda and finalize the upcoming Kinyarwandan version of the TeachAids animations.
While in Kigali, Inema worked on a variety of development and outreach-related tasks with TeachAids partner organizations CARE Rwanda and Gardens for Health. She also coordinated efforts with the Rwanda Cinema Center, an organization dedicated to developing the Rwandan film industry, where regional actors recorded their voices for the TeachAids Kinyarwanda version. A native of Rwanda, Inema used her fluency in Kinyarwandan to research local perspectives on poverty, living with HIV, and food insecurity, through focus groups, household visits, and informal interviews.
