Since the beginning of his career in Bloomingdale’s executive training program in New York, John Goodman has accumulated over three decades of experience in the retail field. TeachAids is grateful to welcome Goodman on board as an advisor for TeachAids’ CrashCourse.
Goodman first worked for four years as a buyer in different areas of women’s apparel at Bloomingdale’s. Afterwards, he transferred to Gap, Inc, and within his 11 years at the corporation, moved from General and District Manager to Vice President of Banana Republic, one of Gap, Inc’s most profitable brands. Goodman’s incredible leadership streak did not stop there: between 2003 and 2014, he served as Senior Vice President of Kmart, CEO of Wet Seal and Charlotte Russe, and CEO as well as President of Mervyns. A news article revealed that Mervyns chose the industry veteran after a 3-month search because he “has the credentials to take us to the next level,” and “his success at the mid- and upper-retail tiers makes us very confident we have the right leader in place to reposition the company.”
Goodman has not only succeeded in apparel and fashion. Drawing from his experience creating celebrity merchandise lines, like the Kardashian Kollection at Sears and Selena Gomez’s Dream Out Loud line, Goodman co-founded the Traub Celebrity Group in 2015 under Marvin Traub Associates. Traub Celebrity is an advisory, one-stop platform that aims to develop branded business opportunities for celebrities, athletes, and other global icons. Its client list consists of big name companies such as Harvey Nichols, Christian Dior, and Esteé Lauder. Goodman is also the Founding Partner, Co-creator, and CEO of Candytopia, a pop-up traveling interactive exhibition themed around sweets and treats. When asked about his time with Candytopia, he shared: “This is just the most magical place. We just bring happiness to people for an hour or so and you can’t stop smiling.”
TeachAids is excited to bring John Goodman to the advisory team for CrashCourse. His diverse experience and business acumen are powerful assets that TeachAids can draw on to deliver the best product into the hands of our users.
