TeachAids welcomes Michael Izzi, Athletic Director of California State University, Northridge, to the CrashCourse advisor team. As an experienced athletics leader with more than 20 years of experience in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics and sports administration, Izzi provides key expertise in developing concussion education for youth athletes and coaches.
As the athletic director for the CSUN Matadors, Izzi oversees eight men’s and 11 women’s teams, including more than 350 student-athletes. Prior to joining CSUN in 2018, Izzi oversaw athletic departments at UC Irvine for 12 years. Under his leadership, UCI earned a top-five finish in NACDA’s Division I-AAA Directors’ Cup Standings eight out of 12 years.
Izzi’s main focus has been to enhance the student-athlete experience through fundraising and development. Under his leadership, UCI Athletics saw some of the most successful athletic fundraising efforts in college sports, raising funds for two new buildings, the Santora Elite Training Center and Al Irwin Academic Center. He also served as Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Stanford, where he implemented fundraising strategies to renovate Maples Pavilion and Stanford Stadium, as well as fund several scholarships and staff positions.
We are proud to welcome Michael Izzi to our advisory team, and look forward to the work we can do together to improve student athlete well-being!
