TeachAids is proud to welcome Dr. Gary Mukai, the Director of the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education, to the CoviDB advisory team. Dr. Mukai has worked with SPICE for over thirty years to make Stanford global scholarship accessible to students and educators.
Prior to joining SPICE in 1988, he taught in both Japan and California public schools. Dr. Mukai’s work has been published by organizations including Newsweek, NBC New York, the Silk Road Project at Harvard University, and more. In addition to these publications, Dr. Mukai has developed numerous teaching materials for films and conducted professional development seminars nationally and internationally.
In 2017, Dr. Mukai was awarded the Alumni Excellence in Education Award by the Stanford Graduate School of Education for his work enriching classrooms in America and beyond. Most recently, the government of Japan named him a recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, a prestigious national honor given for exceptional service. As a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and Stanford, Dr. Mukai’s commitment to curriculum development, educational equity, and global education has been unwavering throughout his career. We are grateful for his guidance and honored to have support from SPICE in developing teacher’s guides for the CoviDB video series.
