Director of Stanford Rugby Josh Sutcliffe Joins the CrashCourse Advisory Board

TeachAids proudly welcomes Josh Sutcliffe, Director of Stanford Rugby, as a CrashCourse Advisor. As a former athlete with eight years of coaching experience in a contact-heavy sport, Sutcliffe brings valuable concussion expertise to the team.
An Australian native, Sutcliffe represented several Australian universities before moving to the USA and receiving his Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNGC) in 2011. He was a student athlete on the UNCG Rugby Team. He also competed on the international level as a member of the Philippine Volcanoes. During his undergraduate years, Sutcliffe began his professional athletic career as a coach at CrossFit Greensboro. He has also served as a personal trainer. In 2012, he joined USA Rugby as a Trainer, Coach Educator, and Coach Development Manager. Among many responsibilities, Sutcliffe managed the coach development pathway for USA Rugby by developing and implementing curriculum, coordinating coaching certification courses, and collaborating with partner organizations. In 2014, he transitioned to become a Coach Development Director, further implementing effective coaching education for the national governing body of American rugby. Sutcliffe also implemented the USA Rugby Stars and Stripes High School All American development program, as well as pioneered the Elite Coach Development Program and Women’s Elite Coach Pathway. Beyond American rugby, Sutcliffe was responsible for improving and training the World Rugby Coach and Education stream and initiating the World Rugby Strength & Conditioning Education stream. He has been a World Rugby Master Trainer for eight years.
In 2015, Sutcliffe came to Stanford where he currently oversees all of Stanford Rugby as its Director, and serves as the head coach of both Stanford Men’s and Women’s Rugby. He brings unique experience to the CrashCourse team as a former contact athlete, coach, and pioneer of athletic education and safety curriculum.
