Indian Actor Amala Akkineni teams up with S.V. Mahadevan, MD, for Practical India Covid Education Video from TeachAids
Today, TeachAids premiered the newest video in the CoviDB.org education series, featuring famed social entrepreneur and actor, Amala Akkineni, in conversation with S.V. Mahadevan, MD, Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, discussing current practical advice for residents of India on COVID-19 prevention.
In the video, Amala asks Dr. Mahadevan about a number of common scenarios Indians would find themselves in, where the risk of Covid and the recommended precautions may not be clear-cut, such as going to college and university campuses, meeting with friends in homes, and receiving package deliveries. They also discuss the protocols regarding gloves, masks, visors, and social distancing, and provide guidance on the use of vaccines.
Throughout the video, they emphasize three important principles: 1. You can’t tell if someone has Covid just from looking at them, so social distancing continues to be important. 2. The virus spreads through the air, so the use of masks is critical. 3. The virus can enter the body as a result of our hands touching our mouths and noses, so regular hand washing is a necessity.
“I am very happy to be able to support Covid-education efforts through this conversation,” said Amala. “The global pandemic has created challenges for every country, and there are many unique challenges we face in India. I hope this conversation with Dr. Mahadevan, an expert in emergency medicine who has been treating COVID-19 patients since the beginning of the pandemic, will help many people both inside and outside India.”
