World AIDS Day
This #WorldAIDSDay, we spotlight the extraordinary efforts of TeachAids’ education champions. Across the world, their voices of influence have been critical in disseminating our material.
For years, information relating to HIV/AIDS has been typically delivered in ways that lacked relatability and sensitivity. It is heartening to hear from Ross Kornberg from the John’s Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health that the “brilliant simplicity [of] the TeachAids animations have helped demystify HIV’s interaction with the human body for hundreds of kids [in] Ethiopia.” Interactive animations capture children’s attention and encourage the retention of this life-saving information. Raymond Muzondo, Zimbabwean HIV Educator, DOMCCP, was keen on using our tools because he believes that the interactive aspect allows children to “listen and understand more rather than in lesson format.”
From assisting the deaf community in Liberia to using language-specific materials such as in Kiswahili, our partners, Sign Language Interpreter Mrs. Agatha Borbor and Health Assistant Nicole Ide, have used our teaching tools to educate hard-to-reach populations. Meanwhile, in India, Indian director, producer and actor Sudeep, who lent his voice to the Kannada version of our animation, says of our materials, “Never before has India seen an organization like TeachAids that connects with youth, elders, government officials and villagers alike.” Anushka Shetty, an Indian actor from Tamilnadu, India echoes this sentiment, calling for a “mass education system where 60 year olds and 2 year olds learn together.”
This is our purpose: that no one will be left out, that our materials will be accurate and accessible, impactful and life-changing. We are already well on our way, thanks to the dedicated effort of our education champions who have been catalysts in employing our tools, creating a platform for discussions and paving the way for transformative action. Without their support, we would not have witnessed the massive global impact we have seen thus far in 82 countries.
This #WorldAidsDay, we applaud their commitment to empowering communities worldwide and thank them for their continued partnership.
Today, we celebrate the life of our dear friend Ashwini Doshi, co-founder of TeachAids, on the anniversary of her passing at the age of 34 in 2017.
In fond remembrance, we honor Ashwini’s legacy as a guiding light and a beacon of hope. Your impact is everlasting, and you are deeply missed.
