Kannada actress, Anu Prabhakar, plays role in TeachAids production
What I would like to tell the students [who watch TeachAids] is, whatever they’ve seen and they’ve enjoyed and they’ve learned something, I would like to tell them to remember that and to spread the message themselves. Go home and tell your parents and tell your grandparents, and tell people around you. The word has to spread more, and I hope they play a real role in spreading that word.” – Anu Prabhakar
Talented actress Anu Prabhakar has kindly gifted her voice and likeness to the Kannada language version of the TeachAids animations. Playing the role of the curious female student, she stars opposite the multitalented actress Suhasini Maniratnam, who portrays the knowledgeable female doctor.
Prabhakar’s mother is the noted actress and dubbing artist, Gayathri Prabhakar, and her mother-in-law is the legendary South Indian actress, Jayanthi. In her own right, Prabhakar has been recognized as one of India’s 100 most beautiful women. Her successful career and talent have significantly contributed to the Kannada TeachAIDS animations.
Prabhakar started her acting career as a child actor in Chapala Chennigarya and Shanthi Kranthi. She has since starred in numerous hit films, including playing the lead role in Hrudaya Hrudaya with veteran actor Shivrajkumar. Her work has been recognized with a Cinema Express Award for Best Actress. Prabhakar is also a two-time winner of the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress for her performances in Shaapa and Pareekshe. Known for her versatile expressions, she has received Bangalore’s Kolada Math with the title of ‘Abhinaya Saraswathi’. In 2013, Anu starred in Gharbada Gudi, which tackles socially relevant issues including female infanticide in India.
While Prabhakar predominantly participates in the Kannada film industry, she has also done films in other regional languages such as Tamil and Telugu. Additionally, she has acted for television, including the special serial 100 Dinagalu, in which she plays one of the central characters.
With a strong sense of giving back to her community, Prabhakar joined the TeachAids efforts because she believes in her power as a celebrity to spread important messages. “These are voices people instantly recognize. People will listen and understand and pay attention to TeachAIDS and derive goodness out of it.”
