The US Olympic Committee Releases CrashCourse Content in their Nationwide Coaching Newsletter
In 2018, the Aspen Institute “State of Play” reported only 29% of coaches received training in concussion management. Coaches play a crucial role in ensuring the health of their players and maintaining the well-being of their teams. That is why we are thrilled to announce that the United States Olympic Committee has chosen to share the CrashCourse Concussion education content in their next installment of their Coaching Education Newsletter. Their Coaching Education Newsletter is sent to over 400,000 coaches nationwide representing 50+ different sports.
The USOC Coaching Education Department encourages coaches at all levels of sport in the United States to become continual learners through providing targeted educational resources and development opportunities to expand the coaching profession. This includes the critical message that coaching is more than just the technical and tactical aspects of each sport. It’s an integration of best principles in coach knowledge and athlete outcomes that when applied to specific sport contexts creates a quality sport experience for all.
“One of the reasons I am so impressed with CrashCourse is because it embodies everything that we believe in when it comes to quality education. CrashCourse is innovative, scientifically sound, captivating in visuals and storytelling, and is created by a passionate team that are more importantly, really good people. Sharing this resource with the greater coaching community benefits everyone.” -Nadine Dubina, Manager of Coach Development
Their objectives include assisting National Governing Bodies in the development of Coaching Education programs and materials, delivering programming that brings world-class sport science and applied research principles of the USOC, supporting the importance of coach training, and advancing coaching as a profession.
In the coming year, Team USA Coaching and TeachAids will develop new installments of CrashCourse to enhance education for coaches and athletes nationwide. We commend Team USA’s leadership and dedication towards providing state-of-the-art athlete safety education. We are excited to work towards maintaining the best standards of sport-related injury education throughout all levels of sports.
