Speedskating Olympic Medalist Carlijn Schoutens Becomes CrashCourse Ambassador
TeachAids is proud to announce that Speedskating Olympic Medalist Carlijn Schoutens has joined the CrashCourse Ambassador team.
Schoutens was born in the United States, but was predominantly raised in the Netherlands. When she was 7, her family spent a year in the US, where she began playing soccer. However, when she moved back to the Netherlands, her local soccer club only allowed boys. She began learning to speed skate. She quickly found a love for the sport. She ultimately moved to the United States in 2014 to pursue a professional career in speed skating. She scored gold at the 2014-15 long track national championships and gained a position on the US Speedskating World Cup Team. She went on to compete in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and received a bronze medal in Team Pursuit.
This year, Schoutens retired from competitive speed skating with her eyes set on another goal. Schoutens is in the midst of pursuing a medical degree in the Netherlands at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She hopes to become a physician, and she is considering a future in sports medicine.
We are so proud of Carlijn Schoutens incredible achievements. We are excited to have her on our CrashCourse ambassador team.
