International Women’s Day 2023
International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th to highlight and emphasize the importance of women in every aspect of society. It is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements while also presenting challenges set to be overcome. The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” This topic highlights the need to create a more inclusive society by eliminating gender biases in harnessing innovation and the use of technology.
The intentional use of technology has the potential to radically transform women’s health and well-being. For instance, in rural areas, where access to health services are limited, telemedicine can provide services such as consultation and monitoring. More generally, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be applied to improve diagnostic capabilities and accuracy, while product innovation such as in the case of cervical self-sampling kits can encourage more women to perform crucial routine checks.
Improving digital skills and access to inclusive technologies are critical for a sustainable future. It is time for professionals across technology, business, innovation and activism to work together to design creative solutions in digital education.
At TeachAids, we believe that education is closely linked to positive health outcomes for women, as they are empowered to access timely care and make informed decisions. Our research-based efforts have harnessed technology in the form of VR, interactive media and animation to deliver free, timely education to disadvantaged populations in regional languages across age groups – thereby widening access significantly. We believe that life-saving education should be made available to all. In particular, it’s critical that women receive such information given their vital role in educating their families, communities and society at large. Helping to close the gender divide will always be a priority for us.
