International Youth Day 2023
International Youth Day, observed on August 12th each year, serves as a powerful reminder of the significant role that young people play in shaping our world. This auspicious occasion provides a platform to recognize the immense potential, creativity, and determination of the youth population. In 2023, as we celebrate International Youth Day, it is imperative to acknowledge the importance of empowering and investing in our young generation, as they hold the key to a brighter future.
At TeachAids, we have witnessed our youth demonstrate a passion to learn, channel their skills and work diligently with a sense of purpose and justice while building a better future world. Thank you for all you do!
Below we highlight the voices of our own young volunteers who have made the work at TeachAids possible:
Amy Bugwadia: “I love the interdisciplinary work that the TeachAids team does! The education that TeachAids provides, whether about concussions/head injuries or COVID-19, is accessible, evidence-based, and exciting to team members and the community alike. Working with TeachAids has been instrumental in my growth as a health educator and a future physician. Each team member has a rich amount of knowledge and lived experiences, and these diverse passions are what help make TeachAids such an incredible organization to volunteer with!”
Anaum Ahmad: “During my time as an intern at TeachAids, I was able to work with a group of extremely passionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative people. Everything I learned at TeachAids about health education and public health has proven incredibly valuable!”
Elodie Mortimer: “TeachAids’ creativity in approaching issues surrounding health education is incredible and inspires me everyday. I am so lucky to have been a part of this initiative at such a young age. Getting to work with and be surrounded by such intelligent people striving to better the community has been an amazing experience.”
Isabella Fish: “Volunteering with TeachAids helped me to broaden my horizons beyond my community during a time where we were all confined to our homes. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work side by side with some incredible young people and to have discovered a passion for public health through this organization.”
Leila Orzsag: “From how a nonprofit functions on a day to day basis to new software platforms, I’ve learned so much from TeachAids. Along the way I’ve made friends (Sam, I love you!) and found mentors who I hope will be by my side for years.”
Nathaniel Braun: “Working at TeachAids ingrained in me the universal truth that we are all able to make the world a better, healthier, and happier place. I am forever grateful for the resources and mentorship my work with TeachAids provided me, not only allowing me to assist with existing programs, but also develop new ones — like CoviDB 4 Kids, a COVID-19 educational resource database tailored to the needs of young children.”
Peter Frates: “As an athlete who has suffered a concussion, the opportunity to work with the TeachAids team has been very rewarding. The team is extraordinarily talented, driven, and compassionate. I have appreciated learning more about concussion education and prevention with other passionate and like minded individuals.”
Peter Knowles: “My experience with TeachAids has been nothing short of exceptional! It has enabled me to collaborate with leading experts in traumatic brain injuries and tackle problems that are personally relevant and meaningful.”
Priya Vishwanath: “As a volunteer who helped edit all the blogs for TeachAids, I learned the importance of precision and attention to detail. It was a challenging task that required me to review and refine each post carefully. However, this experience helped me develop new skills, such as grammar and sentence structure, that I can use in my future endeavors. Being a part of such an incredible initiative has also taught me the significance of contributing to the community and the impact it can make. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I hope to continue volunteering and making a difference.”
Rachel Hyzny: The people I’ve had the opportunity to work with at TeachAids inspire me every day. From the high school volunteers, to our advisors who are the leaders in their fields, everyone is so kind, humble and supportive. It is an honor to be a part of this team!”
Samantha Yamashita: “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to volunteer alongside such amazing people and learn from them every day. TeachAids has provided me with invaluable lessons related to health education, and with friendships I hope to maintain for many years to come. Volunteering at TeachAids has been a formative experience not only for my academic and career interests, but also for me as a young adult.”
Sepehr Asgari: “Volunteering for TeachAids has been an incredibly impactful experience. From gaining insight into how a highly acclaimed nonprofit is successfully run to having opportunities to do meaningful work on projects with real-world impact, I’ve grown a lot through this experience and wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Shaina Childs: “TeachAids has given me the chance to get an early start in the world of research. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking study and learn firsthand what conducting research is like. I will certainly use the tools I have gained from my time volunteering with TeachAids as I proceed in my education and career.”
Tanya Vohra: “I think through all the informative meetings we had over the CovidB resources if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that “in life there’s always one more thing to learn”
