US National Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee and ESPN Analyst joins TeachAids as a CrashCourse Ambassador
She was a four-time All-American athlete and Pac-12 Player of the Century for Stanford University. She led the US National Women’s Soccer Team to two World Cup victories, captained the team for 13 years, and won two Olympic gold medals in Athens and Atlanta. From this alone, one would think Julie Foudy had an exceptional career.
But for her, that was only the beginning.
In 2000, Julie became the President of the Women’s Sports Foundation and served on its Board of Trustees for seven years. Her work honed in on Title IX issues, childhood obesity, and athletes’ rights. She also served on the board of the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA).
Continuing her life of service, Foudy extended her work into advocating for women’s rights and child labor laws worldwide. Having served on the Commission on Title IX during the Bush administration, she was honored by the National Women’s Law Center for her promotion of women’s rights and equality. Foudy fought against the abuse of child labor, receiving a FIFA Fair Play Award for her efforts.
Nowadays, Foudy helps youth athletes develop leadership abilities of their own so they can someday make an impact in whichever domain they are passionate about. To achieve this, she founded the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy, a camp that teaches these leadership skills to youth, as well as the Julie Foudy Leadership Foundation, which provides resources to empower young women to be leaders in their communities.
When considering her numerous accolades, it comes as no surprise that Julie Foudy was inducted into the US National Soccer Hall of Fame and named as one of the 100 Most Influential NCAA Student-Athletes. This past weekend, Positive Coaching Alliance recognized Foudy with the Lifetime Achievement Award. In her pursuits, Foudy has demonstrated passion, persistence, and dedication to changing the sports culture for the better.
TeachAids is so pleased to have Julie Foudy on the team as an Ambassador, and we are thrilled to work together towards empowering youth athletes to perform at their best.
