TeachAids Advisor Dr. Maya Yutsis Returns as Team Neuropsychologist for San Francisco 49ers
Dr. Maya Yutsis is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Stanford Department of Neurological Sciences, with over a decade of specialized experience in performing neuropsychological evaluations with adults and adolescents. Dr. Yutsis holds additional roles as the team neuropsychologist for the San Francisco 49ers, lead neuropsychologist for Stanford Sports Medicine Clinic, and trusted TeachAids advisor in helping us build new installations of CrashCourse.
Dr. Yutsis is also actively involved in research and serves as an Associate Director of Clinical Neuropsychology Core at the Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease and Research Center (ADRC). She is also the Co-Founder of Silicon Valley Assessment, which serves community members throughout the Bay Area, including adults and adolescents who have sustained recent sports-related concussions . In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Dr. Yutsis has authored over 15 peer-reviewed publications and five book chapters, focusing on functional outcomes of rehabilitation following brain injury and cognitive aging. Her research interests include computerized assessment of brain injuries, sports-related concussions and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
This fall, Dr. Yutsis is reprising her role as the team neuropsychologist for the 49ers. The team has started this season off strong, and are 4-0 for the first time since 1998. Dr. Yutsis provides expertise on a wide range of neurodegenerative and neurological conditions that impact cognition – with a focus on concussions – to assist the team and athletes with return-to-play decisions.
As one of the earliest advisors for CrashCourse, Dr. Yutsis has provided invaluable support to TeachAids over the years. She was a leading advisor in the development of CrashCourse Football, and she continues to inform the design of our additional modules. Most recently, she has contributed her expertise towards the design of our StoryWall project, which features hundreds of people talking about their concussion experiences.
Always inspired by her dedication to the field of neuropsychology, TeachAids is honored to have Dr. Maya Yutsis to the CrashCourse advisory team.
