Multiple TV stations telecast TeachAids for World AIDS Day
On World AIDS Day this year, multiple TV networks renewed their commitment to promoting HIV education be televising the TeachAids animations.
In Andhra Pradesh, Star Maa (formerly MAA TV) and TV7 Health Planet broadcast the Telugu TeachAIDS animations, featuring the voices and likenesses of renowned regional cultural icons Nagarjuna Akkineni, Anushka Shetty, Navdeep Pallapollu and Swati. As part of their World AIDS Day efforts, MAA TV also launched a program to educate the public about HIV-related issues and efforts across their state. The interviews included personalities like renowned actress and social activist Amala Akkineni, and the Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society Project Director, Sri. C. Partha Sarath.
Additionally, the Central Tibetan Administration (Tibetan Government in Exile, located in India) broadcast the Indian English and Hindi TeachAIDS animations for a second time on TibetOnlineTV, a popular online television station targeted at Tibetan refugees located in India and abroad.
MAA TV is a leading Telugu TV network known for its innovative and interactive programming. It is ranked among the top 25 TV channels out of more than 400 that operate in India. At the press conference, held in Hyderabad, India, multiple cultural icons, including actress and social activist, Amala Akkineni, spoke about the TeachAids efforts and the need for culturally appropriate HIV education for young people.
The Tibetan Department of Health initiates and implements public health and education campaigns that advocate for healthier lifestyles, improve primary healthcare services, and promote a cleaner environment. Through their efforts, over 120,000 Tibetans living in India, Nepal, and Bhutan have gained improved access to healthcare services, including hospitals, health centers, clinics, and education campaigns. These efforts are spearheaded by the Minister of Health, Dr. Tsering Wangchuk, who has conducted TeachAids education sessions with thousands of Tibetan refugees, providing this critical knowledge to many learners, young and old, for the first time.
TeachAids congratulates these agencies for their continued efforts to provide HIV prevention to millions of learners in commemoration of World AIDS Day and throughout the year.
