Personal Physician to his Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr. Tsetan Dorji Sadutshang Joins CoviDB Advisory Team
TeachAids is proud to welcome the Chief Medical Officer of Delek Hospital in Dharamsala, India, Dr. Tsetan Dorji Sadutshang, to the CoviDB Advisory Team. Dr. Tsetan provides his deep expertise in evidence-based global public health interventions as we collectively address the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 1988, Dr. Tsetan has served as Personal Physician to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Beloved by Tibetans both inside and outside of Tibet, he is committed to protecting and promoting health of vulnerable populations, as seen through his work providing the exceptional quality medical care to Tibetans in exile in India at the Delek Hospital.
Dr. Tsetan obtained his medical degrees at the universities of Chennai and Wales, and went on to receive a Masters in Public Health at Harvard University on a Fulbright Scholarship. His academic interests include infectious disease and mental health, and he has authored several books on public health, addresses international forums on health and medicine, and has received numerous awards for his international work.
In addition to his notable academic and medical career, Dr. Tsetan serves as a founding board member of the Central Council of Traditional Medicine and a board member of the Tibet Charity. In 2005, he was recognized for his charitable efforts with the Unsung Hero of Compassion Award from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in San Francisco.
As an advisor for TeachAids projects for five years, Dr. Tsetan helped build our HIV initiative, used globally. He generously donated his voice and likeness to the role of the wise doctor in the Tibetan language version of the TeachAids ‘Prevention Begins with Me’ software. We are grateful for his continued guidance as we build our COVID-19 education.
