SPICE presents TeachAids animations at teacher’s conference in Malaysia
The Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) recently presented the TeachAids animations as part of the 2011 EARCOS Teacher Conference in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
The Teacher Conference was hosted by the East Asia Regional Council of Schools, an organization of 120 schools in East Asia aimed at fostering greater access to expertise in the field of education. The 9th annual conference presented a series of workshops discussing early childhood education, Chinese language, curriculum development, cognitive science, and general education.
“In its 35-year history, SPICE has offered hundreds of teacher professional development seminars nationally and internationally. The recent TeachAids-SPICE joint seminar on infectious diseases that was offered in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, ranks among the most significant. Not only were teachers from throughout the Asia/Pacific region in attendance, but they also represented multiple grade levels and subject areas. This illustrates the importance educators are placing upon the critical need to inform all students of AIDS and other infectious diseases in interdisciplinary ways.”
– Gary Mukai, Director of SPICE
In 2009, TeachAids and SPICE forged a partnership to make the TeachAids animations available to children and educators around the world. With a reach of over 10,000 schools globally, SPICE has made the TeachAids materials available for free in dozens of countries including China, Taiwan, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and Australia, to name a few.
Since 1976 the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) has supported efforts to internationalize elementary and secondary school curricula by linking the research and teaching at Stanford University to schools through the production of high-quality curriculum materials on international and cross-cultural topics.
