TeachAids, a beneficiary of the BolderBOULDER
A group of TeachAids volunteers organized the several waves of runners at the start-line of Dick’s Sporting Good’s annual BolderBOULDER race on May 31, 2010. Starting at 7 AM in Boulder, Colorado, volunteers were responsible for organizing all 38 waves.
With over 53,000 participants this year, the BolderBOULDER is the nation’s largest timed race, the second largest running race in the United States, and the fifth largest in the world. This year’s race culminated in the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field, where runners enjoyed a spectacular Memorial Day tribute. The race’s popularity has allowed it to accumulate up to 10 million dollars each year, allowing for multiple benefiting organizations.
The BolderBOULDER is closely connected to many social programs to benefit the Colorado community. They coordinate a program called the “Middle School Challenge,” an outreach program for 1,500 middle school students and teachers to promote good health and fitness. Additionally, they have collected more than 120,000 pounds of food for the Boulder Community Food Share program during the past ten years. They also collect sneakers for underprivileged athletes around the world. TeachAids was part of the race’s nonprofit program, which gives funding to nonprofits participating in the event.
TeachAids is grateful to our dedicated volunteers for all their support, and to the BolderBOULDER for the opportunity to be a part of something making a difference in so many lives.
