TeachAids tutorials used to educate thousands of Tibetan refugees
Over the last many months, Dr. Tsering Wangchuk, a resident Medical Officer, has been conducting a number of TeachAids education sessions to promote HIV and AIDS education among thousands of Tibetan refugees. Dr. Wangchuk works intimately with the Tibetan Tsojhe Khangsar Charity Hospital, which serves as the main hospital for the largest Tibetan refugee settlement in the world, providing medical access to around 40,000 people.
“Your TeachAids animation tutorials have been very helpful and useful in conducting our HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns in our community especially for school children and youth … these materials will be of great use to us in our ongoing HIV/AIDS awareness campaign in our community.” – Dr. Tsering Wangchuk
A local hero, Dr. Wangchuk arranged health promotion sessions in multiple communities to raise awareness. At the Phuntsokling Tibetan settlement at Chandragiri, he introduced the TeachAids animations to 200 school children (grades 6-10) at the Central School for Tibetan middle school. At the Central School of Tibetan at the Lugsam Tibetan settlements, Dr. Wangchuk and his team conducted HIV/AIDS awareness sessions for 300 children (grades 8-13). At the Cauvery Valley project school for Tibetans at the Delar Tibetan settlements in Bylakuppe, Dr. Wangchuk educated 150 children (grades 6-10). At the SOS Tibetan Children Village School, he ran the TeachAids animations for 900 students (grades 7-12). In addition to educating youth, young adults, and teachers, Dr. Wangchuk used the TeachAids animations to educate adults at several camps located in the Lugsam-Delar Tibetan refugee settlements.
TeachAids applauds the tireless efforts of Dr. Tsering Wangchuk and his colleagues at the Tibetan Tsojhe Khangsar Charity Hospital for their compassion and drive to raise global HIV and AIDS awareness.
