TeachAids Welcomes Dr. Michele Barry, Senior Associate Dean for Global Health at Stanford Medicine, to the CoviDB Advisory Team
TeachAids is proud to welcome Dr. Michele Barry, Senior Associate Dean for Global Health at Stanford Medicine, to the CoviDB Advisory Team. Dr. Barry is an expert in global medicine, with focused interests in clinical tropical medicine, emerging infectious diseases, problems of underserved populations, and globalization’s impact on health in the developing world.
As the Director of the Yale/Stanford Johnson and Johnson Global Health Scholar Award program, Dr. Barry has organized more than a thousand physicians to serve overseas in underserved locations to help strengthen health infrastructure in low resource settings. Dr. Barry is also a long time advocate for women’s rights in medicine. She created the Women Leaders in Global Health conference in response to the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions in global health.
Recently, Dr. Michele Barry was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The academy is one of the country’s most prestigious honorary societies, including leaders from science policy, global security, and social policy and education. She is among the 276 scientists, scholars, artists, and leaders representing the best and brightest of the United States.
Dr. Barry has advised TeachAids’ HIV and CrashCourse concussion education initiatives as we have expanded them throughout the globe. We are appreciative of her continued support as we scale our efforts to include education on COVID-19.
