TeachAids Partners with USA Cheer to Advance Concussion Awareness and Understanding
TeachAids is proud to announce a new partnership with USA Cheer, the U.S. governing body for sport cheering and the sport of STUNT. They join other sports governing bodies such as USA Football, USA Artistic Swimming, USA Field Hockey, and US Speedskating to provide formal Certification for completion of the CrashCourse education programming.
“Athlete safety is central to everything we do and it’s critical that participants in our sport and their parents and coaches understand what a concussion can look like and how to deal with it,” said USA Cheer Executive Director Lauri Harris. “We’re thrilled to partner with TeachAids to promote effective concussion education for our members and athletes of all ages.”
USA Cheer has a longstanding commitment to athlete safety, with a focus on the importance of strength and conditioning, progression in training, and following safety guidelines. USA Cheer offers courses for coaches on safety regulations and has developed safety rules tailored to each age group and skill level. Starting today, the CrashCourse curriculum will be instituted for free, with certification, throughout USA Cheer’s programs nationwide and is available at https://www.usacheer.org/safety
“As an athlete and a coach, having access to a resource like CrashCourse is so important,” said Kaitlynn Volmer, US National Team Athlete, OSU Athlete and Stillwater High Coach. “It’s so great that USA Cheer and TeachAids have partnered to provide this training. It’s going to make a real difference for our entire cheer community and ensure we’re able to continue to provide a safe and healthy environment to train and compete.”
“Central to our mission at USA Cheer is to promote safety and safety education for cheer in the United States,” said USA Cheer Director of Education and Programs Jim Lord. “Understanding the signs and symptoms of a concussion, and how to respond if a concussion has been sustained, is critically important for participants at every level. The approach that TeachAids has taken speaks directly to athletes, and we’re really pleased to be able to offer the CrashCourse content to our members.”
“We are honored to work with USA Cheer to introduce CrashCourse concussion education into their programming. Their leadership they have exhibited to make their sport safer is an example for all,” says Dr. Piya Sorcar, Founder and CEO of TeachAids.
The USA Federation for Sport Cheering is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 2007 to serve as the National Governing Body for Sport Cheering in the United States and is recognized by the International Cheer Union. USA Cheer exists to serve the cheer community, including club cheering (all-star), youth recreational cheer, traditional school-based cheer programs, and the growing sport of STUNT. USA Cheer has three primary objectives: promote safety and safety education for cheer in the United States; help grow and develop interest and participation in cheer throughout the United States; and represent the United States of America in international cheer competitions.
